Hope Clinches 2022 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship Title

FREELAND, Mich. -- After concluding league play with an unblemished 8-0 record, the Hope College women's tennis program was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) regular-season champion.  This is the seventh-consecutive MIAA title for the Flying Dutch.

Hope is currently ranked ninth in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).  In singles, senior Sydney Jackson is regionally ranked 14th, while freshman Sullivan Patel is No. 22.  Jackson and Patel are additionally ranked ninth in the Central Region's doubles rankings.

The Flying Dutch have won 64-consecutive regular-season matches.  Of the 72 games played, Hope lost just six.

The undefeated Flying Dutch will compete as the top seed in the MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament which will be held May 5 (semifinals) and May 7 (championship).

Joining Hope in the four-team MIAA Tournament are Kalamazoo College (7-1), Calvin University (6-2), and Saint Mary's College (5-3).

The Flying Dutch will host fourth-seeded Saint Mary's in the semifinals at 4:00 p.m., while No. 2 Kalamazoo will host No. 3 Calvin at 5:00 p.m.  The highest-remaining seed will host the final match on May 7.
