Hope Women's Tennis Crowned MIAA Regular-Season Champion, Tournament Bracket Released

Freeland, Mich -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced Hope College women's tennis as the 2021 regular-season champion.  The Flying Dutch have been seeded No. 1 in the MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament which begins on May 5.

Regular-Season Champion

The 2021 season began on March 27.  Cancellations caused by COVID-19 required the MIAA to develop a formula that ensures fairness in determining regular-season champions across all sports.

This formula that takes into account the win-loss record of each team and the win-loss record of their opponents (creating a strength of schedule) was adopted.

Hope concluded the season with an undefeated record of 7-0.  In the seven matches played, the Flying Dutch only gave up six matches out of 63.  This is Hope's sixth-straight season earning the regular-season title and the 27th time in program history.

MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament

Not all games were completed due to COVID-19 protocols, so the 2021 MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament seeding was determined by the coaches' postseason rankings.

Tournament competition will begin on May 5 and the finals will be held on May 7.
