No. 34 Hope Women's Tennis Serves Up Senior Day Win Vs. Adrian

The Hope College women's tennis team pushed its win streak to nine matches on Saturday with an 8-1 Senior Day win against Adrian at VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leading Flying Dutch raised their record to 13-4 overall and 5-0 in league matches.

No. 34-ranked Hope opened the match by sweeping doubles.

At No. 1 doubles, junior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) and senior Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) defeated Arielle Williams and Renae Almasy 8-1.

At No. 2 doubles, senior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS) and freshman Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) beat Morgan Spencer and Amber Laginess 8-4. 

At No. 3 doubles, junior Kate Mader of Granger, Indiana (Penn HS) and sophomore Amanda Susnak of Lowell, Michigan (Lowell HS) downs Olivia Neumann and Victoria Watson 8-5.

The Flying Dutch won five of six singles flights.

At No. 1 singles, Benda defeated Williams 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, Garcia claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win against Almasy.

At No. 3 singles, Holaway earned a 6-1, 6-1 win against Spencer.

At No. 4 singles, sophomore Natalie Rahrig of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Bishop Luers HS) beat Laginess 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 5 singles, freshman Catherine Wingrove of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS) served up a 6-1, 6-0 win against Neumann.

Hope concludes the regular season this week with three MIAA matches, beginning on Tuesday, April 26 vs. Trine at 4 p.m. at VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts.
