Hope Women's Tennis Downs Alma For MIAA Victory

The Hope College women's tennis team won five matches without losing a point en route to a 9-0 win against Alma on Tuesday at DeWitt Tennis Center.

The Flying Dutch extended their win streak to a season-high five matches while improving to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

At No. 1 singles, junior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) topped Megan Solano 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, senior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS) defeated Nikki Malekadeli 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 3 singles, senior Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) beat Claudia Barajas 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 4 singles, sophomore Natalie Rahrig of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Bishop Luers HS) downs Matilda Ennis 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 5 singles, freshman Catherine Wingrove of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win against Chloe Ramey.

At No. 6 singles, freshman Erin LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) scored a 6-1, 6-0 win against Amy Wood.

In doubles play, Benda and Holaway teamed for an 8-1 win against Solano and Malekadelia at the No. 1 flight.

At No. 2 doubles, Garcia and freshman Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) topped Barajas and Ennis 8-0.

At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Amanda Susnak of Lowell, Michigan (Lowell HS) of and junior Kate Mader of Granger, Indiana (Penn HS) beat Wood and Chloe Ramsey 8-1.

Hope returns to action on Saturday with nonleague matches at home against Augustana, Illinois and Coe, Iowa.
