Hope Women's Tennis Serves Up Win Against Whitworth In Florida Finale

The Hope College women's tennis team closed a successful spring break trip with a 7-1 win against regionally ranked Whitworth, Washington on Friday in Orlando, Florida.

The 27th-ranked Flying Dutch improved to 4-3 overall with their fourth win in as many tries this week down south. One singles match was not completed due to rain.

Hope won four of the five singles matches that finishes, including junior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) at No. 1 singles, who had a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Bella Hoyos.

The Flying Dutch swept doubles. Benda and senior Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) recorded a 8-5 win against Hoyos and Jennifer Adams.

Hope entered the match ranked seventh in the Central Region. Whitworth was 14th in the West Region.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2 at the Midwest Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.
