HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, the six head coaches selected the 2023-24 All-MIAA honorees.

Hope College junior Greta Gidley earned the title of Most Valuable Swimmer after assisting the Flying Dutch to the MIAA Championship crown.  Gidley had a record-breaking second day of competition, beginning with breaking her own previous record in the 200 IM (2:00.79).  Gidley also competed in the winning 400 medley relay which broke the MIAA record with a time of 3:46.11.  On the third day of events, Gidley notched a victory in the 100 fly after clocking in at 55.08.  Gidley is now a two-time All-MIAA honoree and was selected as the MIAA Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week twice this season.

Junior Flying Dutch Abby Koops claimed the title of Most Valuable Diver for the third-consecutive year after sweeping the diving competition at the conference meet.  Koops opened the diving competition with a score of 428.10 on the three-meter board.  She earned 415.95 points in the three-meter dive to clinch her second victory of the meet.  Koops is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree and was selected as the MIAA Women's Diving Athlete of the Week four times this season.

In its third year, the Senior Impact Award was created to recognize the men's and women's swimmers and divers that best exemplify the MIAA and Division III in both the classroom and their communities.  On the women's side, Alma College's Marissa Luzac was voted this year's Senior Impact Award recipient.

Luzac exemplifies a spirit of leadership and service, demonstrated through her diverse range of engagements within both her college community and beyond.  She served as a Resident Assistant for two years before being appointed as Senior Resident Assistant in 2023-24.  Luzac showcased Alma College as a Tour Guide, offering insights into campus life and academic opportunities to prospective students and their families.  Currently holding the role of Women's Team Captain, she serves as an advocate for the swim team by collaborating with follow captains and coaches.

Within Gamma Phi Beta, Luzac demonstrated commitment through various leadership roles, including Administrative Vice President, Panhellenic Affairs Vice President, and Academic Chairwoman.  Additionally, she actively contributed to the Education Department, facilitating PACE and Fidelity meetings, and organizing sisterhood events.  Holding the position of President within the Student Advancement Association, Luzac plans events that allow current students to engage and network with alumni and ambassadors.  Luzac is involved as both a member and a former secretary in Alpha Phi Omega, and previously served on Alma's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).  Recognized for academic excellence through membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi, Luzac demonstrated dedication to scholarship and intellectual pursuits.  Additionally, she was acknowledged by the Order of Omega for high academic achievement, involvement in the campus community, and work to improve fraternity and life both in her chapters and across campus.

Luzac's time as a Pre-Service Teacher Presenter for the National Council of Teachers of English showcases expertise and commitment to advancing education.  Furthermore, Luzac demonstrated commitment to environmental conservation through volunteer work in Joshua Tree National Park, removing invasive species and preserving natural habitats.  Consistently volunteering over 15 hours per semester since 2020, she contributed to various community service initiatives, demonstrating a sustained commitment to making a positive impact.
