Women's Recap

Calvin University junior Maggie Farrell clinched the first win of the night by defending her 100 fly championship title with a record-breaking time of 54.88.  She broke her previous record of 55.48 which was set last year.  Hope College sophomore Greta Gidley finished in second place (55.15) and was followed by Albion College junior Sage Gettings in third place (55.60).

Olivet College junior Jennifer Mann claimed first place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.11.  Freshman Ashlea Swingewood of Hope placed second (4:31.99), followed by sophomore teammate Grace Wesley in third place (4:34.07).

Calvin junior Isabella Gable earned a first-place finish in the 200 free after clocking in at 1:50.57.  Hope freshman Laurel Wasiniak claimed second place with a time of 1:53.11, while classmate Bella Turner finished third (1:53.65).

Sophomore Lauren Ryle of Hope notched a victory in the 100 breast after concluding the race in 1:04.44.  Albion sophomore Mattie Smith finished in second place (1:04.69) and Calvin sophomore Haley Thier in third place with a time of 1:05.28.

Hope sophomore Sara Kraus defended the 100 back title in record-breaking fashion.  Her time of 54.97 broke the previous record of 55.84 which was set in 2019 by Albion's Anna Moore as the lead leg of the 400 medley relay.  Freshman teammate Katie Hermann and Kalamazoo College senior Camille Misra tied-for-second place both with a time of 56.60.

On the three-meter board, Hope sophomore Abby Koops won the championship title for the second-straight year with 441.75 points.  Kalamazoo divers claimed the next two spots with sophomore Sam Vande Pol in second place (413.45) and senior Sarah Densham in third place (391.90).

The Flying Dutch closed out day three with an MIAA record-breaking win in the 200 medley relay (1:43.31).  The previous record of 1:43.65 was set last year by Albion.  Hope's first-place quartet included Katie Hermann as the lead off, Sara Kraus, senior Alyssa Kerkman, and Greta Gidley as the anchor.  Calvin finished second with a time of 1:43.59 and Albion in third place (1:44.89).

Men's Recap

Hope junior Ben Catton notched the first victory for the men in defending his championship title in the 100 fly (47.98).  Calvin senior Julian Camy was the runner-up with a time of 48.04, followed by junior teammate Forrest Peterson in third place (48.28).

Sophomore David Bajwa of Calvin finished first in the 400 IM after clocking in at 4:01.66.  Hope sophomore Dallas Fisher concluded the race in second place (4:02.10) and Calvin freshman Timothy Hays in third with a time of 4:02.79.

Senior Knight Jacob Heeres earned a first-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.04.  He was followed by Hope sophomore Conner Halberg in second place (1:40.28) and Calvin sophomore Joshua Seidelman in third place (1:40.30).

Calvin freshman Caleb Gemmen notched a victory in the 100 breast (55.12) at his first-ever MIAA Championship meet.  Hope sophomore Christian Dunaitis clocked in at 55.59 for the No. 2 spot, followed by Albion senior Declan Tharp in third place (56.66).

Senior Knight Noah Holstege finished first in the 100 back with a record-breaking time of 47.62.  The previous 100 back record of 48.56 was set in 2009 by Kalamazoo's Paul Ellis in the lead leg of the 400 medley relay.  Flying Dutchman Ben Catton clocked in at 49.33 for the runner-up position and was trailed by sophomore teammate Colin Kalkman in third place (49.46).

Calvin ended day three of the competition with an MIAA record-breaking time of 1:28.05 in the 200 medley relay.  The Knights broke their previous record from last year by nearly a second (1:29.03).  The winning Calvin quartet included Noah Holstege as the lead off, Caleb Gemmen, Julien Camy, and Forrest Peterson as the anchor.  Hope was the runner-up with a time of 1:30.16, followed by Albion in third place (1:31.77).
