Women's Recap

Hope College opened the 2023 MIAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship with a first-place finish in the 800 free relay after clocking in at 7:28.81.  The winning quartet included sophomores Greta Gidley and Sara Kraus, and freshmen Ashlea Swingewood and Laurel Wasiniak.

Calvin University finished the 800 free relay in second place with a time of 7:52.64.  The runner-up squad included freshmen Kristin Winkle and Meghan Bengelink, junior Natalie Fisher, and senior Hannah Brown.  Kalamazoo College's third-place relay (8:04.39) included senior Lizzy Silber, freshmen Frannie Turner and Olivia Bagwell, and senior Mya Richter.

The divers competed in the one-meter preliminaries on the first day of the conference meet.  The top eight divers advancing to the finals include Hope sophomore Abby Koops (425.45), Albion College junior Sarah Stone (387.65), Hope junior Sophia Farbarzhevich (386.05), Kalamazoo sophomore Sam Vande Pol, Hope sophomore Michaela Sander (360.65), Hope freshman Miranda Smith (352.80), Hope senior Allie Graver (341.45), and Kalamazoo sophomore Sofie Santos (338.75).

The women's one-meter diving finals will be held on Thursday, February 16.

Men's Recap

The host Knights began the 2023 MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship with a first-place finish in the 800 free relay (6:41.72).  The winning quartet included senior Hudson DeBoer, junior Forrest Peterson, senior Bryce Miner, and classmate Jacob Heeres.

Hope earned a second-place finish after concluding the 800 free relay with a time of 6:43.18.  The group was led off by junior Ben Catton and was followed by sophomores Conner Halberg and Dallas Fisher, and anchored by senior Bailey Smith.

The Brits rounded out the top-three relays after clocking in at 6:58.14.  The third-place quartet included senior Nate Cobb, junior AJ Zako, and sophomores Kelvin Crone-Willis and Richard Pifer.
