GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Top-seeded Calvin University notched a home victory versus No. 2 Hope College on Saturday, November 4, to earn the program's ninth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Tournament crown.

Following a scoreless first half, 2023 First Team All-MIAA honoree Carley Wagasky put the Flying Dutch on the board with a goal at 56:41.  Calvin's Maggie Smith tied the contest with less than nine minutes left in regulation with help from Anna Reimink and Liz Williams.

A tie after 90 minutes of play was unbroken by 20 minutes of overtime, leaving the teams to face off in a penalty-kick shootout.  The Knights came out on top with a 5-3 edge in penalty kicks.

Both goalies, Calvin's Kalex Dodge and 2023 Second Team All-MIAA honoree Clara Feenstra of Hope, totaled nine saves throughout the contest.  The Knights led 7-3 in corner kicks and 19-16 in shots.

Calvin receives the automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA Women's Soccer Championships.  The DIII selection show is scheduled for November 6 at 1:30 p.m.  The First Round begins on November 10-12 at campus sites.
