Calvin freshman Lucy Iverson has received a prestigious post-season honor.

On Wednesday morning, Iverson was named a D3soccer.com Third Team All-American.

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Iverson put together a standout freshman campaign with the Calvin women's soccer team this fall. The Naperville North High School graduate helped lead the Calvin women's soccer team to MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles and its second straight trip to the NCAA III Tournament.

A centerback on Calvin's back line, Iverson was a dynamic force both offensively and defensively on a Calvin team that finished 18-1-1 overall last fall.

On defense, she helped Calvin post 18 shutout victories while allowing only three goals during the 2022 season.

She frequently joined the Calvin offensive attack on set-piece plays, scoring off of free kicks or corner kicks. Iverson finished second on the Calvin team in scoring with six goals, four assists and 16 points. Two of her goals were game-winning goals with the first coming in a 2-0 win over nationally-ranked Chicago and the second coming in a 1-0 early October win at rival Hope.

Iverson was a two-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. She was named to the All-MIAA First Team and then named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player, becoming the first freshman from Calvin to receive that honor in women's soccer since Sarah Weesies was so honored in 2003.

"We are really excited to see Lucy receive this recognition!" said Calvin head women's soccer coach Emily Ottenhoff, herself an All-American in 2009. "She was impactful for our team throughout the entire season. To have that rewarded is awesome. Credit to our entire team. It takes all of us together to have a great season that allows our team members to be recognized."

Iverson is the seventh individual in Calvin women's soccer history to receive All-America honors.
