Calvin Women's Soccer Crowned Regular-Season Champion as Tournament Bracket is Released

Freeland, Mich -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced Calvin University women's soccer as the spring 2021 regular-season champion.  The Knights have been seeded No. 1 in the MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament, which begins on Monday, April 19.

Regular-Season Champion

Amid the uncertainty of college athletics in the 2020-2021 academic year, the MIAA scheduled what would have been the fall 2020 season in the spring of 2021.  The season consisted of seven conference games beginning on March 18.

Calvin concluded conference play with a perfect record of 6-0 to clinch the regular-season title.  This is the first MIAA Championship for the Knights since 2015 and the 12th in program history.

MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament

In the spring of 2021, the MIAA expanded the tournament to eight teams allowing all schools to compete for the conference tournament championship.

Not all games were completed due to COVID-19 protocols, so the seeding was determined by the coaches' postseason rankings.

Competition will begin with the quarterfinals on Monday, April 19.  The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, April 21, followed by the final on Friday, April 23.
