MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament Championship to Feature Hope, Olivet

The MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament final game is set after semifinal action Thursday evening:

Hope 1, Calvin 0

Top-seeded Hope scored the game's lone goal in the eighth minute off a free kick and held strong defensively to defeat Calvin 1-0 Thursday evening to advance to Saturday's championship game. Hope's Grace Bubin knocked in a rebound from a free kick by Kristen Marsman in the closely contested contest. Hope finished with a slight 9-8 advantage in shots.

Olivet 0, Adrian 0 (2ot) (Olivet advances 5-4 on PKs)

After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, host Olivet outlasted Adrian 5-4 over six rounds of penalty kicks to advance to the MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament championship game. Both teams made their first four attempts, and after Olivet missed wide on their fifth try, the Comets' Samantha Gifford smothered Adrian's fifth attempt to force extra kicks. Olivet's Ann Fetzer made good on her spot kick, and again Gifford was up to the task in goal to push wide Adrian's sixth attempt.
