Five teams went unbeaten on the week as teams continue to strive for points in MIAA play. Notable highlights include:
• Hope, ranked sixth in the Central Region by the NSCAA, went 1-0-1 on the week to stay atop the MIAA standings. After their 1-1 draw against Alma Sept. 20 on a goal by Elizabeth Perkins (Sr., F, Eaton Rapids, Mich.), Hope responded with a convincing 4-0 win at Saint Mary's Sept. 23. Hilary Curry (So., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) shook the nets twice in the win over the Belles.
• Kalamazoo entered the week ranked seventh in the Central Region and did their part to stay in the rankings with a 3-0 win against Adrian Sept. 20. Emma Tardiff (Sr., F, Plymouth, Mich.) turned in a two-goal effort for the Hornets as the Kalamazoo defense gave up just one shot in the shutout.
• Calvin was unbeaten in two outings, defeating Saint Mary's 5-0 Sept. 20 before drawing 2-2 at Alma Sept. 24. Down two early goals, the Knights chipped back with a goal in the first and second halves to earn the road point. Against the Belles, Bekah Maguire (So., M, Holland, Mich.) and Brianna Russell (Sr., F, Plainwell, Mich.) each scored twice in the contest; Maguire's first goal came just 14 seconds into the second half.
• Alma was unable to garner a victory in two overtime contests on the week, but the Scots did tally points in the standings against two higher-ranked teams. At Hope Sept. 20, the Scots answered an early first-half goal with a strike by Amanda Mladenovski (Jr., D, Shelby Twp., Mich.) in the 35th minute and a 12-save effort by Kelsey Postema (Jr., GK, Marshall, Mich.). Alma then drew 2-2 with Calvin Sept. 24, with Whitnee Foote (Jr., F, Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) scoring in the first and 13th minutes to set the tone.
• Albion held its home field with a 4-1 win over Olivet Sept. 24, earning three points over the higher-standing Comets. A three-goal spurt over a 13-minute span in the first half put the game out of reach.
