Rylie Dalton's Second-Half Goal Boots Hope Women's Soccer Past Adrian

Freshman Rylie Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), scored her sixth goal of the season to lift the Hope College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Adrian on Saturday.

The 24th-ranked Flying Dutch recorded their eighth shutout of the season to improve their record to 11-2-1 overall and 8-1-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. They moved within one-half game of idle Calvin.

Dalton broke a scoreless tie 11 minutes, 13 seconds in the second half. Sophomore Allie Wittenbach of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS), recorded her fourth assist of the season.

Sophomore goalie Mary Clare Theis of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett HS), made one save for the Flying Dutch.
Eight shutouts for Theis puts her four all-time in Flying Dutch history. She trails only Holly Nestle's 15 in 2003 and 2005 and Kat Dickson's 10 in 2014.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Flying Dutch host Trine at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
