No. 20 Hope Women's Soccer Blanks Saint Mary's For 10th Win

Elizabeth Perkins and Erin Brophy proved to be quite the formidable pair for the 20th-ranked and unbeaten Hope College women's soccer team. The two teamed up for the first two goals in a 3-0 win against visiting Saint Mary's on Saturday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The Flying Dutch improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Hope is one game from matching the school record for longest unbeaten streak. The 2003 team started 10-0-1.

Brophy, a sophomore from West Lafayette, Indiana (West Lafayette HS), set up both of Perkins' goals.

Brophy now has eight assists on the season to tie for 12th place in Hope's single-season standings.

Perkins, a junior from Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Eaton Rapids HS), scored in the 22nd and 52nd minutes. She has four goals on the season after her second multi-goal game this fall.

Junior Sarah Fazio of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), added her second goal of the season with two seconds remaining in the second half.

The Flying Dutch dominated play, outshooting Saint Mary's by a 28-2 margin. The Belles are now 1-7 overall and 1-5 in MIAA play.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when the Flying Dutch host Wheaton, Illinois. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
