Albion falls despite spirited effort

ALBION, Mich. - With a pair of starters in the midfield sidelined by injuries Wednesday, Albion coach Eric Scott probably would have been pleased if his team could have gained a draw with the undefeated Hope College squad.

The expectations may have changed after Jenna Urso and Domenique Sarnecky scored to put the Britons up 2-1 midway through the first half.

Rylie Dalton came off the bench to score the equalizing and game-winning goals, however, as Hope walked off Alumni Field with a 3-2 victory.

Allie Wittenbach scored the first goal of the day for the Flying Dutch and she was credited with assisting on Daltin's game-winner. Erin Brophy dished out two assists.

Albion was unable to generate many scoring opportunities after Dalton scored the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute. The Britons finished with three shots - Sarnecky produced two and Urso had the other.

Albion, 4-3 overall and 2-2 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals, will play its next two on the road, starting with a Saturday date at Trine University.
