Sophomores lift Albion to women's soccer win

ALMA, Mich. - Jenna Urso produced her second game-winning goal of the season and Maggie Troost picked up her third shutout of the season as Albion College edged Alma College, 1-0, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer match.

Urso scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute. Her other game-winning score this season came in the opening contest against Anderson (Ind.) University.

Troost collected seven saves. She has not allowed a goal since the Sept. 5 non-league contest at Otterbein University. Albion (4-1 overall, 2-0 against MIAA rivals) has surrendered just three goals all season.

The box score describes an evenly played contest. Albion had the edge in shots, 18-16, and in shots on goal, 8-7. Sam LaRocca was credited with three shots on goal, while Urso and Caroline Eagan had two apiece.

Albion will play at home for the first time this season at 4 p.m. Monday when it challenges the side from Calvin College.
