Hope Women's Soccer Blanks Adrian, Improves To 5-0

The Hope College women's soccer team erupted for three second-half goals to beat visiting Adrian Saturday and remain undefeated on the season.

The Flying Dutch won 3-0 in front of a Van Andel Soccer Stadium Crowd of 461 to raise their record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Sophomore goalie Mary Clare Theis of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett HS), posted her third shutout of the season by making three saves.

Sophomore forward Allie Wittenbach of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS), snapped a scoreless tie 10 minutes, 1 second into the second half.

Wittenbach snuck a header through the hands of Adrian goalie Lexi Lewandowski for her second goal of the season.

Senior midfielder Kristin Hazlett of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay HS), booted in her second goal of the season 22 ½ minutes later.

Freshman forward Rachael Braginton of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) struck four minutes after Hazlett's goal with a blast from 30 yards out. It was her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Hope is Adrian's first opponent this season to score more than one goal in a match against the Bulldogs (2-2-2).

The Flying Dutch return to action on Monday, Sept. 14 with a MIAA match at Trine.
