Hope Women's Soccer Blanks Ohio Northern, Remains Unbeaten

Freshman Murphy Stadelmaier of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), netted the first two goals of her Hope College women's soccer career during a 3-0 win at Ohio Northern on Saturday.

Freshman Eliza Beird of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS), added the first three assists of her Flying Dutch career.

Hope improved to 3-0 overall while handling Ohio Northern its first loss in three matches this season.

Freshman Rachael Braginton of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), opened the scoring 21 ½ matches into the match by capitalizing on a long throughball from Beird. Braginton leads the Flying Dutch with five goals this season.

Stadelmaier headed in a corner kick from Beird 6:25 later to double Hope's lead.

Stadelmaier struck again 3:13 into the second half by converting a loose ball following a corner kick.

Sophomore goalie Mary Clare Theis of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett HS), collected her second shutout of the season with three saves. 

It was Hope's second road win in two days. The Flying Dutch won at Otterbein, Ohio on Friday.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 8 with the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener against Kalamazoo, the preseason favorite in the MIAA Coaches Poll. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
