Eight MIAA Wrestlers Punch Their Ticket to the 2024 NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Eight wrestlers from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) have qualified to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, scheduled for March 15-16 at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

A total of 180 participants will compete in the championships.  Student-athletes qualified for the championship by placing in the top three of their respective weight classes at one of the six NCAA regional tournaments held February 29, March 1, 2 and 3.

Adrian College will be represented by three wrestlers on the national stage.  At 174 pounds, junior Blake Williams qualified after earning the runner-up spot at regionals.  Graduate student Dylan Wellbaum will travel to the national meet following a third-place finish at the regional championship.  Also qualifying for the championship is heavyweight wrestling senior Mason Slocum.

Junior Max Honiss of Albion College will compete at 149 pounds after finishing as the runner-up at the Central regional competition.  Freshman Demond Harrison qualified for the national championship after winning the regional 197 weight-class bracket.

The University of Olivet will send two student-athletes to the national championship.  After finishing third at the regional meet, senior Dylan Phelps will compete as part of the 141 weight-class bracket.  The 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Wrestler, senior Donovan King, will also compete on the national stage after earning a second-place finish at the regional meet.

At 133 pounds, senior Joey Langeman will represent Trine University.  Langeman rounded out the top three at the regional competition.
