Olivet Wrestling Protects MIAA Championship Crown

ALMA, Mich. -- The Olivet College wrestling team earned its fourth-straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship title on Sunday, February 6.

Trine University hosted the 2022 MIAA Wrestling Dual Meets, which included Adrian, Albion, Alma, Olivet, and Trine.  The duals, originally scheduled throughout the season, were moved to one day due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Comets captured the MIAA title after going 4-0 on the season.  Olivet opened the competition winning 36-15 bouts against Alma.  The final bout versus Adrian was the deciding factor, however, the Comets finished with a 25-18 win.  Olivet earned a 33-21 victory over Albion, followed by a 25-15 edge following a close battle vs. Trine.  Senior Dylan Briggs was selected the Athlete of the Week following a 4-0 sweep against his league opponents.

Adrian finished second for the fourth-consecutive season following a 3-1 record.  Prior to the schedule change this season, the Bulldogs notched a 46-2 victory over Albion on January 4.  Adrian opened Sunday with a 38-6 win against Trine and closed the day with a 37-12 victory over Alma.
