FREELAND, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) wrestling season, head coaches from the conference's five wrestling-sponsoring institutions voted on All-MIAA awards.
Olivet College junior Owen Guilford was selected to receive the Most Valuable Wrestler honor after going 10-0 versus league opponents at 174 this season, including a 4-0 record in dual meets alone and a 3-0 mark at the MIAA Individual Championships. Guilford is now a two-time All-MIAA honoree, along with Alma College's Jayce Kuehnlein.
Jayce Kuehnlein of Alma College received wrestling's first-ever Senior Sportsman of the Year Award. This honor was created to recognize the wrestler that best exemplifies the multi-dimensional traits of an MIAA and Division III student-athlete. The criteria for this award includes grade-point average, extracurricular activities, community service, and athletics.
Senior Reese Wallis of Olivet became a four-time All-MIAA recipient after going 3-0 at 141 in the league dual meets and 3-0 at the MIAA Individual Championships. Teammates Dylan Briggs (165) and Justin Carnahan (184) also received First Team recognition.
Adrian boasts three all-conference recipients, including Tanner Smith at 133, Landon VanWyk at 149, and Dylan Wellbaum at 197.
Benyamin Kamali (125) and Owen Miller (285) represent the Brits with First Team accolades in Albion College's inaugural wrestling season.
