Around the MIAA

Adrian

Adrian College made program history with a 46-9 Senior Night victory over visiting Defiance College on Thursday, producing the Bulldogs' first-ever 12-win season…the Bulldogs, who recorded four pins during the rout, improves to 12-5 in dual matches…the 1970 and 1969 AC squads went 11-4-1 and 11-6, respectively, according to available school files…sophomore Elijah Sanchez (133 pounds), sophomore Derick Duvall (165), junior Devon Pingel (197) and sophomore Isaiah Espinoza (285) had pins in the match…Noah Nieman at 149 ranks fifth in NCAA Division III and tops the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with 11 technical falls…Pingel is nationally ranked No. 5 by D3wrestle.com and No. 7 by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association, and added to his team-best 12th fall while improving to 25-3 on the season…Espinoza has a Bulldog-best record of 27-3 with 10 falls and is ranked No. 4 by D3wrestle and No. 8 by NWCA…Adrian returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 15, when it travels to the Mid-States Conference in Crawfordsville, Ind., at Wabash College…The Bulldogs will host the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29.


Alma

The wrestling team handled Manchester 34-18 on Friday (Feb. 7) night. Austin Wieczorek (Kentwood, Mich.), Trent Lashuay (Saint Johns, Mich.), Carter Hankins (Hartland, Mich.), Zachary Cooper (Chippewa Hills, Mich.), Matt Tomsett (Madison Heights, Mich.), Jayce Kuehnlein (St. Louis, Mich.), and Lucas Brewer (Belleville, Mich.) all earned wins.


No. 18/18 Olivet

Did not compete last week. The Comets are back in action this Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Mid-States Conference Tournament, hosted by Wabash (Ind.) College.
