Five Wrestlers to Represent MIAA at NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship

Five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association wrestlers will represent the conference at the 2019 NCAA Division III Wresting Championships, the NCAA announced Monday.

Alma's Brendan Ladd and Zachary Cooper both were NCAA Regional Champions, winning their weight classes of 141 and 149 pounds, respectively, at the Central Regional Feb. 23, hosted by Wabash. Also finishing in the top three in their weight classes were Adrian's Devon Pingel (184, runner-up), Olivet's Haydin Kinjorski (174, third place), and Olivet's Trevor Piggott (285, 3rd).

A total of 180 participants will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championship by placing top-three in their respective weight classes at one of the six NCAA regional tournaments held on Feb. 22-24. The NCAA Championships will be held March 8-9 at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Ferrum College will serve as the host.
