Calvin's Gilbert and Hope's Brown Earn All-Region Accolades from IWLCA

Two women's lacrosse players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on May 17.

Calvin University graduate student Megan Gilbert received All-Region recognition after leading the Knights to an overall record of 9-7 (5-2 MIAA).  The midfielder was voted the 2023 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year and became a three-time All-MIAA honoree.  In playing 16 games this season, Gilbert concluded the 2023 campaign as the league leader with 86 points, 73 goals, and 168 draw controls.

Hope College freshman attacker Julia Brown also received a spot on the All-Region Second Team.  Brown was named the 2023 MIAA Rookie of the Year after assisting the Flying Dutch to the regular-season title with a 7-0 mark in league play.  Following a total of 17 games, Brown finished the season with 79 points, 25 assists, and a shooting percentage of .551.
