Second-seeded Saint Mary's earned a 19-15 win against fourth-seeded Trine to claim the program's second MIAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament crown.

The Belles scored the first two goals of the game, credit to Bridget Kane and Gabby Belsito.  Trine's Liv Ghent responded with back-to-back goals to tie the contest 2-2 after three minutes of play.  The teams exchanged goals over the next 7:17 to keep the score tied, 6-6.  A free-position shot by Saint Mary's Christiana Singler gave the Belles a 7-6 lead at the end of the first period.  Trine outscored Saint Mary's 3-1 in the second quarter for a 9-8 lead at the half.

The Belles went on an eight-point run throughout the third stanza.  Ghent ended the Thunder's scoring drought with a goal 40 seconds into the final period (16-10).  Saint Mary's responded, however, with another three points for a nine-point lead at the 12:11 mark.  Trine tried to close the gap in the program's first-ever championship game with five-straight points, however, Saint Mary's held on to the lead for a 19-15 victory.

Bridget Kane and Gabby Belsito led the Belles with four goals each, while Erin Dotson and Sarah Frick each contributed two goals.  Belsito also had a game high of 10 shots on goal and Kane totaled five assists and a game-best three caused turnovers.  Kane and Dotson each had six draw controls.  Goalie Alexis Fady had 11 saves over the 60 minutes played.

On the Thunder's side, Liv Ghent led the team with a game-high six goals and a team-best seven shots on goal.  Danielle Gargiulo had team highs in both draw controls (6) and caused turnovers (2).  MIAA Freshman of the Year Calista Richmond dished out a game-best seven assists.  Goalkeeper Jillian Rejczyk totaled 16 saves and Maddy Kasten had an additional save.

The Belles will find out their opening round opponent in the 2022 Division III NCAA Tournament during the selection show on Monday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m.
