Twenty-Six MIAA Golfers, Three Programs Receive Academic Recognition from WGCA

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Twenty-six golfers from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were announced as 2022-23 All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).  Additionally, three MIAA women's golf programs were ranked top-17 in Division III for their team GPAs.

The WGCA recognized a total of 1,401 women’s collegiate golfers from 378 programs in 2022-23.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high level academic achievements of our players.

To be selected, a student-athlete must:
• Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
• Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
• Have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.

Calvin University leads the conference with a total of five All-American Scholars, while Adrian College, Hope College, and Trine University are represented by four golfers.  Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, and Saint Mary's College all had three All-American Scholars recognized by the organization.

Saint Mary's College, Albion College, and Calvin University were the three programs that were announced on the 2022-23 WGCA Top 25 list for team GPAs.  The Belles lead the MIAA as the third-ranked team in Division III with a team grade-point average of 3.807.  Albion is fifteenth in the nation with a team GPA of 3.687, followed by the Knights in seventeenth with a team GPA of 3.684.
