Around the MIAA (through Sept. 15)

Adrian

Adrian College made their MIAA debut on Saturday with the MIAA Jamboree#1…The Bulldogs placed eighth with a team score of 351…Senior Brooke Symons led the Adrian cause with an 83 for a 12th-place tie among 54 competitors. Joining Symons in the lineup were junior Hailey Scott (86, T-21st), sophomores Lauren Yankee (88, T-27th), Alexis Weston (94, T-42nd), and Hannah McKee (103, 53rd)…Adrian is back in action on Tuesday, Sep. 24, when it hosts the MIAA Jamboree #2 at Lenawee Country Club starting at 1 p.m.


Albion

Sydney Cohn achieved her collegiate best score with a 9-over par round of 81 and Grace Hoffman produced a season-best round of 82 in the MIAA Jamboree at the Pine River Country Club.


Alma

Alma is tied for second place with Hope College after the first MIAA Jamboree on Saturday (Sept. 14). The Scots' top three golfers all shot under 83: freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich.) posted an 82 and both senior Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich.) and sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich.) had 83s. Alma sits 22 strokes behind defending champion Saint Mary's for first place.


Calvin

Calvin opened its 2019 MIAA campaign by placing fifth at the opening MIAA Jamboree Tournament hosted by Alma at the Pine River Country Club. Calvin posted a team score of 342 strokes, four strokes behind fourth place Trine and two strokes ahead of sixth place Olivet. Junior Linnea McDonnough sophomore tied for 12th place individually in the tournament with rounds of 83. Freshman Jericha Scharphorn had an 87 to tie for 25th. Junior Meredith Bult and sophomore Kaylee Hirschman tied for 30th with rounds of 89.


Hope

Junior Jordyn Rioux (Farmington, Mich.) fired a season-low, 7-over-par 79 on Saturday during the first MIAA Jamboree of the season. Rioux helped the Flying Dutch record a team score of 334 that tied jamboree host Alma College for second place in the nine-team event. Saint Mary's shot an MIAA course-record 312 to finish first. Junior Abigail Meder (Lansing, Michi.) shot an 81 to tie for seventh place out of 54 golfers.


Kalamazoo

The Hornets competed in the first MIAA Jamboree of the season which was hosted by Alma at Pine River and finished with a 392 as a team to come in at ninth overall. Darby Scott led the way with an 84. Claire Middleton was second-lowest on the team with a 94 on the day. The Hornets are scheduled to return to action Sept. 24 at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian.


Olivet

Olivet placed sixth at the MIAA Jamboree #1, hosted by Alma at the Pine River Country Club. The Comets posted a 344 team score. Senior Nicole Deweyert had Olivet's best round with a 78 to finish fourth in the player standings.


RV Saint Mary's

The Belles captured the first MIAA Jamboree of the season with a conference course-record 312 at Alma's Pine River Country Club. Hunter Kehoe and Summer Stillson shared medalist honors by both shooting MIAA course-record rounds of 74. Kehoe had a round-best four birdies, was the round leader in scoring on par three holes, and tallied nine pars. Stillson, meanwhile, led the field in par five scoring, sunk three birdies, and shared round-high honors with 11 pars. Sydney Hruskoci (80) and Erin Bennett (84) rounded out the team score.


Trine

The Thunder placed fourth of nine teams at the MIAA Jamboree #1 hosted by Alma. Sophomore Jenna Doumont tied a career low score of 77 strokes to lead Trine and rank in third place overall.
