Around the MIAA

Adrian

After being idle since March 4-5, Adrian competed in two tournaments over a three-day span…the Bulldogs were third (348 shots) at the Defiance College Spring Invitational in Swanton, Ohio, on April 6…then they placed fourth (383) at the Kalamazoo College/Steven Tyler Invitational on April 8… Junior Brooke Symons led the Bulldogs in both events with an 80 and 85, respectively…sophomore Hailey Scott also had an 85 at Steven Tyler, earning a tie for third-place overall…Symons was fourth at Defiance…Adrian’s 348 in Swanton, Ohio, was a season’s best and the lowest team score since the second round of the 2017 MIAA Fall Championships (346)…next up, Adrian returns to action this weekend at the Wooster Spring Invitational at the Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio…Symons tops the Bulldogs in scoring.


Albion

Megan Moco, Grace Hoffman and Bailey Downs were among the top seven on the individual leaderboard as the Albion College women’s golf team turned in the low score in the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate at The Moors Golf Club on Monday. Moco turned in a score of 83 to finish one shot behind Darby Scott from Kalamazoo College. Moco received support from Hoffman (88) and Downs (89) as the Britons finished with a 356 total.


Alma

Alma will not compete in spring competition.


Calvin

Hope

The Hope College women's golf team defeated Olivet College in stroke play and lost to Trine University in match play last week. Sophomore Jordyn Rioux (Farmington, Mich.), earned a point against Trine with a 7&6 victory and shot a team-low 82 against Olivet.

No. 16 Saint Mary's

In a field featuring seven Top 25 teams, the No. 16 Saint Mary's golf team placed tenth at the WashU Spring Invite over the weekend. Hunter Kehoe led Saint Mary's with a two-over par 74 on Sunday as the sophomore finished seventh overall (150). Taylor Kehoe recorded a 77 and finished tied for 30th at the tournament (160). Hannah Finley competed as an individual at the event and had the best tournament performance of her freshman season. Finley finished tied for 12th overall after a 77 on Sunday gave her a two-day score of 155.


Trine

Defeated Hope in match play format, 3-2...Jenna Doumont, Olivia Phillips and Mackenna Kelly all won their individual matches in extra holes to finish 1-up.
