Around the MIAA

Adrian

At the Olivet College Kyle Campbell Invitational, Women’s Golf finished in 10th place and shot a 377+354=731 at the Medalist Golf Club…The Bulldogs shaved 23 strokes over the final 18 holes compared to Friday and improved from 11th place…Adrian was led by all-conference junior Brooke Symons who tied for 11th overall with an 82+81=163, followed by sophomore Hailey Scott (98+84=182, 45th), freshman Alexis Weston (97+89=186, T-51st), senior Libby Dusenbery (100+100=200, T-64th) and freshman Audrey Jutis (107+105=212, T-70th)….Adrian's 354 on Saturday was the lowest round as a team since Oct. 7, 2017…next up, The Bulldogs return to the links on Thursday, Sep. 13, when they travel to The Medalist Golf Course here in Marshall for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #1.


Albion

Sydney Cohn, a sophomore from Farmington Hills, Mich., set her career-best when she shot 85 in both rounds of the Kyle Campbell Invitational at The Medalist last Friday and Saturday.


Alma

The Alma College women's golf team won the Defiance Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8) with a program record 324 (+40). This was Alma's first tournament win since 1997. The Scots had four top-ten finishers, led by Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich. / Lakewood) who took first place in the ten-team, 54 player tournament with a 77 (+6), three strokes off her career-low. Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) tied her career-low with a 79 (+8), freshman Kirstyn Cotton (Midland, Mich. / Midland) had a career-best 83 (+12), and senior Hannah Joslin (Linden, Mich. / Linden) finished two strokes off her career low with an 85 (+14).


Calvin

Calvin took sixth place out of 14 teams at the Olivet College Kyle Campbell Invitational with a two-day team total of 699 strokes. Calvin featured three first-year players in its starting lineup. Sophomore newcomer Meredith Bult led Calvin with a two-day total of 170 strokes (85-85) that left her in a tie for 18th place individually.


Hope

Two sophomores led the Hope College women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the two-day Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan. After sophomore Abigail Meder of Lansing (Lansing Catholic Central) shot a 79 on Friday, sophomore Jordyn Rioux's 77 on Saturday earned the Flying Dutch second round's second-best team score of 334. For the tournament, Hope's two-day total was 669 (335-334). DePauw University took first place with a team score of 607 (311-296).


Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College women's golf team finished 13th at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet at The Medalist. After shooting 382 on Friday, Kalamazoo shot 386 on Saturday. Darby Scott led K with a 94 on Saturday. Cydney Martell shot 95 followed by Heather Muir (97) and Claire Kalina (100).


Olivet

The Olivet College women's golf team welcomed 13 other schools, including six fellow MIAA members, to The Medalist Golf Club Sept. 7-8 for the 2018 Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational. Olivet tied for eighth-place with a two-day total of 709 strokes. Individually, junior Nicole Deweyert was the Comets' top finisher, tying for 21st with a two-round score of 171 strokes.


Saint Mary's

Did not compete.


Trine

Junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) shot the lowest individual score to help lead the Trine University women's golf team to a tie for eighth place at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet (Mich.) College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.
