The Flying Dutch Capture the 2024 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship Crown

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The Hope College women's basketball squad won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular-season title with a record of 15-1.

This is the fourth-straight league title for the Flying Dutch and the nineteenth MIAA crown under head coach Brian Morehouse since 1996-97.  Going into the MIAA Tournament, Hope has an overall record of 24-1.

Sophomore forward Sydney Vis led the Flying Dutch in averaging 11.6 points per game, 1.6 steals per contest, and 42-of-50 made free throws during league competition.  Junior guard Olivia Bellows (10.4 PPG) also averaged in double digits for the Hope squad.  Junior center Courtney Lee had a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game.

The six-team 2024 MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament will begin with the First Round games this Wednesday.  The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will serve as hosts, while the first- and second-seeded teams receive a bye.  Semifinals are slated for Friday, February 23, at the No. 1 seed's institution and the championship game will take place on Saturday, February 24.
