Hope College's Brian Morehouse Named 2024 MIAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) proudly announces Hope College's Brian Morehouse as the 2024 Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

This prestigious accolade is a coaches vote based on the achievements of their colleagues both during regular- and post-season competition.

Morehouse was selected as the 2024 Women's Basketball Coach of the Year after leading the Flying Dutch to their fourth-straight regular-season title.  Hope is currently competing in the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.  The Sweet 16 contest at Wisconsin-Whitewater is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The Flying Dutch will enter the next round of the tournament ranked twelfth in the nation.

"It is a great honor to receive MIAA Coach of the Year because of the strength of the coaches and the teams in our league," commented Morehouse.  "With any coach-of-the-year honor, the credit goes to the assistant coaches and players for their important roles in the team's success."

Under the leadership of Morehouse, three players were selected to 2024 All-MIAA Teams including 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Player Jada Garner and Sydney Vis on the First Team, along with Olivia Bellows on the Second Team.

Since taking over the program in 1996, the Hope alum (1991) has led the Flying Dutch to nineteen MIAA Championships and 21 NCAA Tournament appearances.  Morehouse has been chosen as the Division III National Coach of the Year three times by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.  He was also named Division III Coach of the Year by D3hoops.com in 2019-20.  Earlier this year, Morehouse became the fastest collegiate basketball coach to tally 700 wins.
