The top-seeded Hope College women's basketball team notched a 76-65 victory over No. 2-seed Trine University to claim the 2023 MIAA Tournament crown at the DeVos Fieldhouse on February 25.  The battle between nationally-ranked teams included a total of 10 ties and eight lead changes.

Following their performance in the championship contest, the Flying Dutch have an overall record of 25-2 with a 14-2 mark in league games.

Hope was led by forward Savannah Feenstra, who recorded a double-double with a game-best 23 points and 15 rebounds.  Guard Ella McKinney (15 points) and forward Claire Baguley (12 points) both scored in double digits for the Flying Dutch as well.

Hope had a 42-28 edge in rebounds against the Thunder and finished with a team field-goal percentage of .429.

Trine wrapped up the tournament with an overall record of 21-6, including a 14-2 record in conference play.

Trine guard Sidney Wagner, recently voted the 2023 MIAA Most Valuable Player, led the Thunder with a team-best 22 points.  Wagner also led the squad with six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.  Guard Makayla Ardis totaled 16 points, while Abby Sanner tacked on another 10 points.

The Thunder led 18-9 in bench points and concluded the contest with a free-throw percentage of .737 (14-of-19).

Hope receives the league's automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.  The championship selection show will be live streamed at NCAA.com on Monday, February 27, at 3:00 p.m. ET.
