Schoonveld Named Player of the Year by D3hoops.com; Bieniewicz, Schoonveld, and Voskuil Deemed All-Americans

Hope College's Kenedy Schoonveld and Olivia Voskuil, along with Trine University's Tara Bieniewicz, represent the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on D3hoops.com All-America teams which were announced on March 19, 2022.  Schoonveld was also selected Player of the Year by the organization.

Schoonveld was tabbed Player of the Year and a First Team All-American by D3hoops.com over the weekend.  The fifth-year senior guard closed her collegiate chapter by leading the Flying Dutch to the national championship title on Saturday.  Prior to sharing the regular-season crown and clincing the MIAA Tournament title, Schoonveld became a three-time MIAA Most Valuable Player and a five-time All-MIAA honoree.  She was also deemed the D3hoops.com Region 7's Player of the Year.  Schoonveld concluded the season with 141 field goals, a .491 field-goal percentage, a three-point field-goal percentage of .418, and 367 points.

Bieniewicz, a senior guard for the Thunder, led her team to the national semifinals for the first time in program history.  Prior to the national tournament, Bieniewicz became a three-time All-MIAA honoree after assisting Trine to a share of the regular-season title.  Last week, Bieniewicz was named to the All-Region 7 First Team by D3hoops.com.  Bieniewicz concluded the season as the league leader with 85 triples.  She also finished top five in the conference with 753 minutes played, a .405 three-point field-goal percentage, and 343 points.

Hope fifth-year senior center Voskuil earned a spot on the All-America Fourth Team, which was announced prior to ending her collegiate career with a national championship title.  Voskuil became a four-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and a four-time All-MIAA honoree after leading the Flying Dutch defensively to a share of the regular-season title, followed by the MIAA Tournament crown.  She was tabbed a First Team All-Region 7 player by D3hoops.com last week.  Voskuil concluded the season as the MIAA leader with 84 steals and 68 blocks.  She also contributed 136 field goals with a .484 field-goal percentage, 149 defensive rebounds, 207 total rebounds, and 328 points.

The 2022 D3hoops.com All-America team is the organization's 25th annual national awards.  They are chosen by D3hoops.com staff in consultation with All-Region voting results from players nominated for All-Region.
