All-MIAA - Women's Basketball - 2021

FREELAND, Mich. -- Following the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Basketball Tournament, the eight head coaches of the participating institutions this season voted on All-MIAA awards.  Typically the voting would take place prior to the tournament, however, in this unprecedented year the coaches were able to take championship contests into consideration.

Hope senior guard Kenedy Schoonveld was voted the 2021 MIAA Most Valuable Player for the second-consecutive year after assisting the Flying Dutch to an undefeated season, including Hope's 45th-straight victory.  In seven league games, Schoonveld averaged 9.0 points and had a .521 field-goal percentage.  She also averaged 2.1 assists per game and 0.7 blocks per contest.

Hope senior Olivia Voskuil repeats as the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year for the third-straight season.  Voskuil had a conference-best 2.3 steals per game.  She also led the Flying Dutch with team bests in rebounds (7.4 RPG) and blocked shots (1.1 BPG), and averaged 9.0 points.

Schoonveld is now a four-time First Team All-MIAA selection, while Voskuil earned Second Team All-MIAA in 2019 and First Team All-MIAA in 2020.  The two seniors headline an All-MIAA First Team that includes two-time First Team All-MIAA selection Tara Bieniewicz (2020-21) from Trine, four-time All-MIAA honoree Rain Hinton (Second Team - 2018 | First Team - 2019-21) from Albion, Sydney Muller from Hope, and Kayla Wildman from Trine who earned Second Team All-MIAA in 2020.

Calvin junior forward Gabby Timmer is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree after earning Second-Team accolades in 2021 (First Team - 2019-20).  Joining Timmer is teammate Leah Harris, Chelsea Palmer of Adrian, Taylor Sas of Alma, Kelsy Taylor of Trine, and Elena Welker of Albion.
