Around the MIAA 

Adrian (9-14, 3-11)

Mid-year transfer Chelsea Palmer is averaging 10.3 points (47.9 FG%) to lead the Bulldogs in scoring and add 5.2 rebounds per game since joining the Bulldogs for the second half of the season…junior Sha’Trice Graves leads the MIAA in rebounding (10.4 rpg) and is second in blocked shots (53)…she became the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in blocks when she recorded two at Olivet, giving her 154 for her career to surpass Ann Terpstra who had 153 from 1996-2000…Graves added a double-double with 16 points and a game-best 13 rebounds in the 81-68 win over the Comets…in an 86-39 loss at Trine, Graves pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and led all student-athletes with three blocks, giving her 551 rebounds in her career to recently pass Antoinea McElroy ( 528, 2012-16) for fifth place…Adrian hosts Alma on Wednesday and Calvin on Saturday (Senior Day) to conclude the season.


NR/RV Albion (19-5, 11-4)

Albion outlasted Calvin Feb. 15, 74-71, to remain in front of the Knights in the standings. Rain Hinton led Albion with 19 points, while Evelyn Wischmeyer filled the stats sheet with 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.


Alma (10-13, 5-9)

The Scots fell to No. 2 Hope College Feb. 15. The program celebrated the accomplishments and dedication on its four-member senior class – Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich.), Hannah Syme (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Jessie Jordan (Mason, Mich.) and Madison Hill (Midland, Mich.) – prior to the game. Stasha Warchock (Marquette, Mich.) led the Scots with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench. Jeny Brandt (Escanaba, Mich.) had nine points and 11 rebounds. Thelen had eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Oretha Humphries (Detroit, Mich.) added six points and four rebounds.


Calvin (15-9, 9-6)

The Calvin women’s basketball team went 1-1 this past week. The Knights won at home against Kalamazoo with a score of 76-40 and fell in a close game at Albion with a score of 74-71. Sophomore Gabby Timmer had a great week with a total of 44 points, 15 rebounds and shot a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line. Calvin now moves to 15-9 on the season with a 9-6 record in the MIAA.


No. 2/2 Hope (23-0, 14-0)

The second-ranked Hope College women's basketball team improved to 23-0 overall last week with a 69-43 home win against Saint Mary's College on Wednesday and a 78-46 win at Alma College on Saturday. Junior forward Ashleigh Thomas (Shelby Township, Mich.) scored a team-high 15 points against Saint Mary's. Junior guard Lauren Newman (Flushing, Mich.) netted a game-high 21 points against Alma. Hope moved one win of at least a share of an MIAA championship.


Kalamazoo (4-19, 2-12)

Kalamazoo dropped both games during the week as it fell at Calvin 76-40 and ended the week with a 65-48 loss at home to Saint Mary's. Isabelle Clark led the Kalamazoo offense with 27 points during the week. Georgie Andrews added 14 points and a team-best 12 rebounds while Sierra Fraser also posted 14 points. The Hornets begin their final week of the regular season this week as they travel to Trine on Wednesday before hosting Alma for Senior Day on Saturday.


Olivet (4-19, 1-13)

Olivet lost 81-69 to Adrian College in its only game last week. Junior DeeDee Post scored a game- and season-high 26 points on 9-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 free throws. She also had a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman Hannah Brown contributed 16 points.


Saint Mary's (9-14, 6-8)

The Belles posted a 1-1 record on the week with a setback at No. 2 ranked Hope on Wednesday before defeating Kalamazoo on the road. Bella Dugas led the Belles with 11 points and pulled down five rebounds while collecting two assists at Hope. Jade Mosier chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. The Belles hit a season-high ten three-pointers against Kalamazoo on the way to the win. Maddie Rzepka led all players with a career-high 19 points on a 5-of-8 shooting performance from the floor. The freshman was 3-of-3 from behind the arc, 6-of-6 from the free throw line, and added three rebounds and two assists for the Belles. Bella Dugas and Jade Mosier each chipped in double-digit points.


NR/No. 23 Trine (19-4, 13-1)

Trine increased its current win streak to 11 games with wins against Albion (66-50) and Adrian (86-39)...Tara Bieniewicz averaged 19.0 ppg with a 17-point effort against the Britons, followed by a career-high 21 points against the Bulldogs...she shot an impressive 70.0 percent from the field (14-of-20) and 54.5 percent from three-point range (six-of-11).
