D3hoops.com All-Region Honors Arrive for Four MIAA Women's Basketball Standouts

Four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball standouts received regional acclades this week (March 11) with the announcement of All-Great Lakes Region honors by D3hoops.com.

Trine's Brandi Dawson headlined the quartet, earning first-team all-region honors. Second team honorees included Hope's Francesca Buchanan and Calvin's Gabby Timmer, with Timmer also being tabbed the region's Rookie of the Year. Trine's Cassidy Williams rounded out the group with third-team all-region accolades.

 

Now a three-time first-team All-Region selection, Dawson led Trine in points per game (17.8), rebounds per game (5.1), free-throws made (92), free-throw attempts (119), field goals made (199) and field goal attempts (365). Earlier this year, Dawson was named the MIAA Player of the Year for the third consecutive season.

Timmer was a first-team All-MIAA selection, averaging 18.4 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest. Along with registering 12 double-doubles on the season, Timmer was a three-time MIAA Player of the Week.

Buchanan led Hope with 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest as a senior, reaching double figures in scoring 22 times in 2018-19; Buchanan's scoring efforts resulted in 1,476 career points, good for second-best in program history.

Williams finished second on Trine in scoring in 2018-19 at 12.5 ppg while shooting 49.2 percent (120-of-244) from the field; Williams was first on the squad in assists (93). Williams scored in double figures in 22 games, including a career-high effort of 21 points in a 64-43 win against Marietta.
