Earlier in the week, Trine bounced Franklin, 66-47; a balanced attack with 11 players finding the scoring column was led by Montana Martin (So., G, Columbia City, Ind.) and her 14-point night off the bench.
• Albion turned in a 2-0 week with a pair of convincing victories to improve to 8-3 overall on the season. In their 90-58 win over Waynesburg Dec. 29, Oreana Curry (Sr., G, Dearborn Heights, Mich.) led with a game-high 20 points while Evelyn Wischmeyer (Fr., G/F, Lake Orion, Mich.) just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The following day, Albion cruised to a 97-64 win over Earlham thanks to an impressive 36-point performance by Emily Zgoda (Sr., G, Wyandotte, Mich.); her total ranks third-best in Brits' basketball history.
• Hope suffered their first loss of the 2016-17 campaign Dec. 29, as No. 5 ranked St. Thomas (Minn.) edged the Flying Dutch, 78-67. Hope rallied in its second game of the Bluffton Holiday Tournament, defeating Centre the following day, 70-31. Against Centre, Francesca Buchanan (So., F, Grant, Mich.) led the team in scoring for the second consecutive outing, this time with a 10-point performance.
• Adrian split its week of action, defeating Defiance 86-85 Dec. 29 before a 54-49 setback against Anderson Dec. 31. In the win over Defiance, Sadia Johnson (Fr., G, Kalamazoo, Mich.) tallied 23 points to lead the Bulldogs, who shot 54 percent from the field.
