In their 75-61 win over Kalamazoo Jan. 25, Sadia Johnson (Fr., G, Kalamazoo, Mich.) notched 21 points and eight rebounds to aid the Bulldogs. Adrian then rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Olivet Jan. 28, 52-50; the Bulldogs outscored the Comets 11-5 in the final stanza, with the difference coming on a pair of free throws by Johnson in the game's waning seconds. She finished with 22 points to lead all scorers.
• Calvin responded to its top 25 ranking last week with two MIAA victories. The Knights topped Saint Mary's Jan. 28, 84-49, fueled by a double-double from Anna Timmer (Sr., F, Caledonia, Mich.) and an 18-point, seven-assist night by Ali Spayde (Jr., G, Lewis Center, Ohio). Calvin fended off a late charge from Alma Jan. 25 to win, 62-52. Timmer led the Knights with game-highs of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• Trine turned in a 2-0 MIAA week, starting with a 103-42 victory over Saint Mary's Jan. 25. Against the Belles, Trine shot 53.5 percent from the field and 14 players found the scoring column. In their 69-45 win over Albion, Trine benefitted from a stingy defense that held the Brits without a double-figure scorer; Hayley Martin (Jr., F, Auburn, Ind.) led the Thunder with 15 points and 10 boards.
• Albion faced a pair of top teams in MIAA action and came away with a 1-1 week to hold onto fourth place in the league ladder. In their overtime victory over #6 Hope Jan. 25, Emily Bernas (Fr., G, Waterford, Mich.) led all scorers with 25 points, including a critical three-pointer in overtime that extended the Brits' lead to four with two minutes remaining.
