Guard Angelique Gaddy Nets Career-High 18 Points In Win At Albion

Guard Angelique Gaddy had a big hand for her unbeaten Hope College and nationally ranked women's basketball team during a 64-54 win at Albion on Wednesday.

The junior from Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) scored a career-high 18 points and matched her career-high with nine assists. It was her second consecutive game with nine assists.

Gaddy also totaled five rebounds, two steals and two blocks for the Flying Dutch, who improved to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Hope entered the game ranked fourth in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll and fifth in the D3Hoops.com national rankings.

Gaddy gave the Flying Dutch the lead for good midway through the first quarter when she made a layup to break a 9-9 tie.

Hope extended its lead to 23-13 by the end of the first quarter. Albion (4-10, 1-5 MIAA) rallied but never got closer than three points.

Senior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS) chipped in 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Junior forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS) added 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

Freshman forward Francesca Buchanan of Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS), matched her career-high with 11 rebounds. She also scored six points.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16. The Flying Dutch host Kalamazoo at DeVos Fieldhouse for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
