Hope Women's Basketball Used Balanced Scoring To Win At Alma

The Hope College women's basketball team remained undefeated on the season thanks to a balanced scoring effort that resulted in an 83-56 win at Alma on Saturday.

Thirteen different players scored for the Flying Dutch, who improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.  Three reached double figures.

Freshman guard Victoria Swift of LaGrange, Illinois (Lyons Township HS) recorded a team-high 13 points off the bench for the fourth-ranked team in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll and the sixth-ranked team in the D3Hoops.com poll.

Freshman forward Francesca Buchanan of Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) chipped in 11 points off the bench.

Starting forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Hope's bench contributed 54 points to the victorious effort.

The Flying Dutch limited Alma (1-6, 0-3 MIAA) to 38.2 percent field-goal shooting (21-of-55) and forced 30 turnovers.

Hope returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Dec 18 and 19 when it hosts the Post Exam Jam at DeVos Fieldhouse. The Flying Dutch play Lawrence, Wisconsin on Friday at 8 p.m. and Lake Forest, Illinois on Saturday at 3 p.m.
