GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin University sophomore Brooke Hunderman was named the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

Hunderman (Grand Rapids, Mich./Calvin Christian) won the honor after a strong week in the circle for the Knights, including a complete game win at top-ranked Trine University on Saturday, April 13.

Against the nation's number-one team, Hunderman pitched all seven innings and allowed only two runs on three hits while striking out six and walking one, improving her record to 5-4 on the season.

The win also helped the Knights complete a two-game sweep of the Thunder in the doubleheader, marking the first time in Calvin softball program history that it won both games of a doubleheader against Trine.

Prior to the win on Saturday, Hunderman allowed one run on four hits in five-plus innings while striking out six batters against Kalamazoo on Tuesday, April 9.

This season, Hunderman leads the Knights in innings pitched (65.1) and strikeouts (68) with an earned run average (ERA) of 2.14.

Hunderman is the first Calvin player to receive NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week honors since Anna Gernant received the honor on May 2, 2018.

Following a 3-1 week, the Knights improved to 17-7 overall and 3-3 in MIAA play. Calvin is also ranked 24th in this week's NFCA top 25 poll.

Calvin softball returns to action on Thursday, April 18, when it plays a doubleheader at Albion. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, but was moved back one day due to inclement weather in the forecast.
