HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) softball regular season, head coaches from the MIAA's nine member institutions that sponsor softball voted on All-MIAA awards.
Trine University senior Anna Koeppl was voted the 2023 MIAA Pitcher of the Year after leading the Thunder to the regular-season title with an overall mark of 15-1 in league play. Koeppl concluded conference play as the MIAA's leader with six wins and an earned-run average of 0.00. She is also fourth in the conference with a batting-average against of .153. Koeppl was selected as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week twice this season and is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree.
Calvin University outfielder Hannah Biddlecome was selected as the 2023 MIAA Position Player of the Year after assisting the Knights to a conference record of 13-3 and the second seed in the 2023 MIAA Softball Tournament. Biddlecome finished the regular season as the league's leader with 26 runs, 27 hits, and a perfect fielding percentage. She is also second in the conference with 13 stolen bases. Biddlecome was named MIAA Position Player of the Week twice this season and is now a four-time All-MIAA honoree.
Along with Koeppl, four other players are receiving All-MIAA recognition for the third time in their careers: Alma's Emma Fraser and Taylor Griffith, and Trine's Amanda Prather and Ellie Trine. Another four players are being recognized with all-conference accolades for a second time: Calvin's Sydney Duong, Kirsten Krause, and Taylor Sanborn, and Kalamazoo's Lucy Hart.
