LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- On August 1, 80 softball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the 2021-22 academic year.  Additionally, five MIAA programs were ranked in the top 100 for the 2021-22 Easton/NFCA Team GPA.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,227 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2021-22.

Of the 7,527 collegiate student-athletes that were recognized with Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors, the MIAA is represented by a total of 80 softball players on the list.

Albion College leads the conference with 15 student-athletes receiving academic accolades, followed by Adrian College with 14 scholar-athletes.  Alma College and Hope College both had 12 players honored.  Calvin University and Kalamazoo College each had 10 student-athletes on the All-America Scholar-Athlete list, along with seven from Olivet College.

Five programs from the MIAA were ranked in the top 100 for the 2021-22 Easton/NFCA Team GPA.  The conference leader, Kalamazoo College, is tied-for-36th with a 3.59 GPA.  Albion College is tied-for-57th with a grade-point average of 3.51.  Adrian College is tied-for-77th with a 3.45 GPA.  Alma College is ranked 90th with a 3.39 GPA, followed by Calvin University in 93rd with a grade-point average of 3.377.
