Alma and Trine Set to Compete in 2022 NCAA Division III Regional

Both Alma College and Trine University will be representing the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in the 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.

After receiving the conference's automatic bid, Trine (27-11) will serve as a host in the NCAA regional, which will be held on Friday, May 13.  The four-team pod includes Wisconsin-Eau Claire (25-9), North Central (Ill.)(25-10), and Penn St.-Behrend (21-13).  The Thunder will open regional play against Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 4:30 p.m.

Trine's roster will feature 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Pitcher Adrienne Rosey and 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Position Player Ellie Trine, along with two-time All-MIAA honorees Amanda Prather, Anna Koeppl, and Ashley Swartout, and first-time All-MIAA recipients Taylor Murdock and Lauren Clausen.

Alma received an at-large bid following an overall record of 25-13.  The Scots will compete in a regional pod hosted by Millikin (32-7) with Illinois College (21-12-1) and Ohio Northern (23-9).  Alma will face Illinois College at 3:00 p.m. this Friday.

The Scots will be headlined by two-time All-MIAA honorees Emma Fraser, Taylor Griffith, and Haley Ullrich, along with first-time All-MIAA recipient Hannah Falejczyk.

The winners of each regional will advance to the super regionals, which will take place May 20-21.  The winners of the super regionals will then advance to the DIII softball finals at Moyer Park in Salem, Virginia, from May 26-31.  Each round will consist of double-elimination play.
