ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine went 3-0 in the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Tournament to claim the Thunder's eighth tournament title in program history.

On Thursday, May 5, Trine opened the tournament with a 1-0 edge against Alma.  Ashley Swarthout earned the lone run for the Thunder, while 2022 Most Valuable Pitcher Adrienne Rosey pitched a seven-inning shutout.

Calvin pitcher Kirsten Krause assisted the Knights to a shutout against Hope on Thursday.  Sydney Duong paved the way for Calvin with two runs, while Hannah Biddlecome also had a run for a 3-0 victory.

Hope notched an 8-3 victory over Alma in game three.  Haley Ullrich, Taylor Griffith, and Hannah Falejczyk put Alma on the board with a run each.  Trine's Lexi Potapczak led the Thunder with two runs, while Bre Nolan tallied a game-high six RBIs.

After all games were postponed on Friday due to rain, Trine opened Saturday with a 5-0 shutout versus Calvin.  Rosey pitched all seven innings for the Thunder once again.  Both Amanda Prather and Anna Gill had two RBIs, while five different players earned a run.  

Hope notched a 9-6 victory over Calvin in game five on Saturday, securing a spot in the championship contest.  Knight Grace Glass had a game-best three hits, while Hope's Vanessa Krombeen totaled a game high of seven RBIs.  Four Hope players had two runs each:  Peyton Benjamin, Arinn King, Kaelin Callow, and Lexi Potapczak.

Trine clinched the tournament title with a 6-1 win against Hope in the final game.  Cayley Ebeling had the lone run for the Flying Dutch.  Anna Gill led Trine with two runs, while Emma Beyer totaled two hits and Mercede Daugherty recorded two RBIs.

Trine receives the automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.  The softball championship field will be announced during the selection show on Monday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m.
