Week #8 Wrap for April 2-8

• Alma swept Kalamazoo last week to improve to 3-1 in MIAA play. In the opening game of the series, Alma's Katie McClure (Sr., Manchester, Mich.) held the Hornets to five hits in a 7-0 shutout while striking out nine.

 

• Saint Mary's improved to 4-0 against MIAA foes with a doubleheader sweep of Adrian April 8. Morgan Raymer (Sr., Mt. Washington, Ky.) gathered a complete-game win in game one while adding a two-inning save in game two.

• #9 Trine posted two MIAA wins in a doubleheader with Kalamazoo April 5, with Kennedy Baugh (Fr., Walton, Ky.) going 5-for-6 with three doubles and her first career triple.

• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for April 9 were:

  -  Pitcher: Morgan Raymer, Saint Mary's

  -  Position: Kennedy Baugh, Trine

• In the April 4 release of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Coaches Poll, Trine remained in the top 10 with a No. 9 ranking, while Hope remained at No. 23 nationally for the second week. Calvin made its national ranking debut at No. 20.
