Week #11 Wrap for April 23-29
• On the outside looking in at the start of the week, Alma knocked off No. 14 Hope in a midweek doubleheader and added two victories against Albion to earn an MIAA postseason berth and give the Scots a chance to defend their 2017 tournament title. In the nightcap against Hope April 25, Alma came up with a four-run eighth inning to notch an 11-7 victory. Mary Brooks (Portland, Mich.) hit the opening game's decisive home run to vault the Scots, 4-1.
• Calvin went 7-1 on the road to conclude the regular season last week, including a 3-1 mark against two MIAA nationally-ranked foes. The Knights swept No. 14 Hope to start the week April 23, and their split with No. 16 Trine April 28 bounced the Thunder from the MIAA tournament. Anna Gernant (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) went 3-0 for the week with a 0.00 ERA over 28.2 innings.
• Saint Mary's capped their first-ever MIAA regular season title with a doubleheader sweep at Kalamazoo April 28 to earn the right to host the four-team MIAA Tournament May 3-4. In the two-game set, Kelsey Keilman (So., South Bend, Ind.) went 7-for-7 with five runs and four RBI.
