Calvin's Stock Selected NFCA National Player of the Week

On Wednesday (April 4), Calvin College’s Grace Stock (Fr., Vicksburg, Mich.) was named this week’s Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week honors. It is the second national weekly honor for an MIAA softball player this season in as many weeks.

Freshman catcher Stock hit .909 (10-for-11) with five extra-base hits and 10 runs batted in over a 4-0 week for Calvin; her offense resulted in a slugging percentage of 1.636. Stock threw out the one runner attempting to steal against her and collected 22 putouts and three assists in a perfect week behind the plate for the (15-2) Knights, who made their debut in the NFCA Top 25 poll earlier today in a tie at No. 20 with Babson.

Stock was named MIAA Co-Position Player of the Week on Monday; of note, all three MIAA weekly honorees were included in the NFCA honor roll for last week's top performances.

For the first time in MIAA history, three teams are in the Top 25 of the NFCA Division III Coaches' Poll: No. 9 Trine, T-No. 20 Calvin, and T-No. 23 Hope.
