In a season that has featured mutliple highlights and notable performances for MIAA softball, Wednesday (May 2) marked the third time this season an MIAA softball player garnered national player or pitcher of the week accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association when Calvin's Anna Gernant (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week.

Gernant joins teammate Grace Stock (Player, April 4) and Hope's Sydney Jones (Pitcher, March 28) in receiving national weekly honors from the coaching organization.

Last week, Gernant again went 3-0 inside the circle, including wins over No. 14 Hope and No. 16 Trine to post a 0.00 ERA in 28.2 innings of work; Gernant held Trine, the nation's second-best team in batting average, to just two hits with nine strikeouts. Gernant was tabbed the MIAA Pitcher of the Week for her efforts.
